Life in the Fast Lane

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about how to help take you from the couch to fit in nice easy slow steady steps.  The reason for that was that it seemed that I had a lot of customers “overwhelmed” by all the  changes coming to them at once so I broke it down to help them make progress and stay on track (One Bite at a Time).  However what about that group of you that are the pumped up, aggressive, A type, competitive personalities?  Well here is the plan for those of you that are out to “make it into the next infomercial”.

Step 1.

Pick a program that is going to push you and is beyond your current level of fitness.

What this means is that if you are “out of shape” like I was then P90X is perfect as it pushed me really hard and I pushed back trying to prove I could do it and keep up.  If you are in better shape then you need to look at something more extreme like Insanity, Insanity the Asylum, P90X2, or Body Beast.  These programs will take you to the next level of fitness and will challenge anyone to get better.  What if I am really out of shape, but I am very competitive?  P90X is still your best bet, you just need to do the modified moves at first.  If you decide that P90X will be too much then P90 is a great program to help you transform and prepare your body for more extreme workouts.

Step 2.

Get downright psychotic about your nutrition.

You will be working out really hard as you are so competitive so to maximize those results you will need to be very strict about your nutrition.  Make sure you read the nutrition guides that come with your program and also these articles.  Getting Nutrition Right, P90X Nutrition, and Tracking Nutrition there are also plenty more under the “Nutrition” tab on the team website.  You will learn that you need to stay on the “Fat Shredder” diet until you have gotten to the percent body fat you want and then what to do afterwards.  If you want the maximum results then you need to give it all in the workouts and give it all in the nutrition plan.  Plain and simple.  Short change the nutrition and your results may be good, but they will not be “the best”.

Step 3.

Get your supplements.

You will be working your body really hard and to make sure it recovers in time and gets all that it needs you will need to supplement.  This is not an option, because if you want maximum results you need these.  Read this article My Favorite Supplements and make sure to get these supplements and you will get the most out of your workouts and your body.  There is also a lot of additional information on supplements on the team website under the “supplements” tab.

Step 4.

Add in a 2-a-Day when you can.

This means that if your body feels up to it then add in some other type of exercise on the same day.  I like to lift in the morning and do some kind of cardio in the evening.  Sometimes I will substitute in some Yoga or stretching in the evening instead of my cardio as my body needs the stretch more than the calorie burn, you will have to learn to listen to your body.  If you want help setting up your workout plan then just let me know and I will work with you.

Step 5.

Stay accountable.

You may be all fired up, motivated, and competitive the first two weeks and then crash as all the working out and planning, fixing, and eating your meals starts to burn you out.   This is when you need that extra “kick” to make sure you stay with it.  Make sure your coach knows what you are doing so they can encourage you.  Make sure the team knows what you are doing by sharing on the team Facebook page.  Make sure your family, friends, and that guy you want to make “eat his words” for doubting you knows what you are doing so you will be accountable and stay motivated.

Step 6.

Make sure to ask for help.

This is what your coach is there for.  When you are not getting the results you think you should be or have hit a plateau and start to struggle, your coach will be able to help you continue to make progress.  We have a whole team of coaches that have “seen it all” and if not we have access to everyone all the way up to Carl Daikeler the CEO to make sure you get all the information and help you need.

So there you have it.  A road map to get the maximum results in the maximum amount of time.  All you have to do now is execute.  Next up for you will be an Infomercial!
